Memorandum of Understanding on the sale of counterfeit goods over the internet. Major internet platforms such as eBay and right holders from a wide variety of industry sectors have signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the sale of counterfeit goods over the Internet at a ceremony hosted by the European Commission. The Memorandum confirms the commitment of right holders and internet platforms to work together to fight the sale of counterfeit goods online. Lees hier meer.

The Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement (ACTA) is open for interpretation, perhaps too much so, legal experts on both sites of the Atlantic are warning. Reacting to a detailed answer the European Trade Commissioner gave last week to a group of well-known intellectual property law experts, Axel Metzger from the Institute for Legal Informatics at the University of Hannover (Germany) said the European Commission is now opting for the most restrictive interpretation of the agreed text. Bakker Marc Oonk uit Enschede produceert sinds maandag speciale Twentecupcakes zonder akkoord van FC Twente. Vorig jaar moest Oonk de productie van voetbalgebak  stoppen omdat hij zonder toestemming gebruik maakte van het merk FC Twente. Nu gebruikt hij alleen het woord ‘Twente’ en een afbeelding van het Twentse Ros. Op de gewone gebakjes prijken eetbare bordjes met teksten als , Trots op Twente' en 'Nog een week te gaan'.  Oonk is Twentefan en tevens hofleverancier van FC Twente.” Lees hier meer.

With an estimated 164,300 PCT applications filed in 2010, the total volume increased by 5.7% compared to 2009. Asia became the biggest PCT filing region, overtaking Europe. Panasonic Corporation (Japan) maintained its top position in the list of PCT applications published.  Among universities, the top four university PCT applicants are located in the US. Digital Communication saw the fastest growth (17.3%) and accounts for the largest share of total PCT applications published .
