B9 10826. Pirate Bay-blokkade in zicht door Brits vonnis. The Pirate Bay én haar gebruikers maken inbreuk op auteursrechten, zo oordeelt het Britse Hooggerechtshof. Dit vonnis maakt de weg vrij voor de entertainmentindustrie om een blokkade te verkrijgen. The Pirate Bay is in het Verenigd Koninkrijk veroordeeld voor inbreuk op auteursrechten. Daarnaast zijn ook gebruikers van de site schuldig bevonden. Het Britse Hooggerechtshof heeft uitspraak gedaan in een zaak tussen een aantal bedrijven uit de entertainmentindustrie en Britse internet providers. Lees hier meer (Webwereld).

Drinking fake alcohol can case very serious health problems. Fake booze seizures have increased across the Derbyshire – prompting health fears.   New findings by trading standards officers have revealed gangs are exploiting the rising demand for cheap alcohol by tapping into counterfeit booze.  Derbyshire County Council has now launched a drive to combat criminals – and is set to carry out visits to off-licences during the next few weeks.  NHS Derbyshire County has issued a stark warning about the impacts of drinking fake booze.  Public health consultant Alison Pritchard said: “Drinking fake alcohol can case very serious health problems such as blindness and liver or kidney failure. Elsevier ontkent te hoge tarieven, beweging richting open access.  Elsevier ontkent veel te hoge tarieven in rekening te brengen en de toegang tot wetenschappelijke artikelen te beperken. De Volkskrant schreef uitgebreid over de rel die woedt tussen een groeiende groep wetenschappers en het uitgeefconcern. AUP-directeur ziet een oplossing in de overgang naar open access op termijn. As the readers of this Blog will be well aware, in the past few years Berlusconi has been involved in several trials before various Italian courts.  Now there are also rumours of an imminent lawsuit being brought against him by Italian rapper J.Ax. Griekse begroting drastisch aangepakt. The Spanish Supreme Court has agreed to review the Sinde Law, which the Association of Web Users has challenged as unconstitutional. The Sinde Law creates a government commission to review allegations of copyright infringement, which can order internet service providers to block access to websites hosting infringing content.  The Association of Web Users argue that only a court should have this authority. Rowling, de bedenkster van Harry Potter. "Dat leek me hypocriet," stelt de New-Yorkse regisseur Kirby Ferguson. "Waarom denken mensen dat alles wat op hun werk lijkt, gejat is? Roadmap to a New Domain Name Registration Data Access Protocol (WHOIS). ICANN is pleased to announce the posting of the draft roadmap [PDF, 214 KB] to implement ICANN's Security and Stability Advisory Committee's Report on Domain Name WHOIS Terminology and Structure (SAC 051). The SSAC report specifically targets, among other things, the "internationalization" of the WHOIS protocol.
