#1 UNION-IP Winter Roundtable in Munich on February 27, 2026, at the German Patent and Trade Mark Office (DPMA). We will have two panels analysing Strategic Timing and Late-Filed Submissions at the EPO and Courts, under the title “It’s all about timing”.
The first panel will concentrate on Strategic Timing at the EPO and Courts and feature the following speakers:
Addick Land, Judge at the Unified Patent Court
Heli Pihlajamaa, Principal Director, European Patent Office
Kristina Cornish, UK and European Patent Attorney
The second panel will deal with Late-Filed Submissions and feature the following speakers
Philipp Lanz, Chair of a technical board (Mechanics), Boards of Appeal of the European Patent Office
Ulrike Voß, Judge at the Unified Patent Court, Munich Section of the Central Division [TBC]
Bryce Matthewson, UPC Representative and Patent litigator, Partner at Powell Gilbert
Ms. Eva Schewior, President of the German Patent and Trade Mark Office, and UNION-IP’s President, Mr. Reinier Wijnstra, will open the session.

#2 UNION-IP 65 YEARS - Crossing legal and technical borders. Internationaal congres, 10 – 13 juni 2026, Amsterdam
65 jaar geleden hebben 21 nationale octrooigemachtigden een Europese vereniging opgericht. Deze gemachtigden kwamen uit diverse landen, waaronder Nederland, en beoogden de samenwerking binnen onze beroepsgroep te stimuleren. In de loop der jaren is het gebied dat deze vereniging bestrijkt uitgebreid en de naam van de vereniging aangepast naar ‘Union of European Practicioners in Intellectual Property’ (UNION-IP).
Om het 65-jarig jubileum te vieren, wordt een congres georganiseerd. De Nederlandse groep van UNION-IP is trots om op te mogen treden als gastheer voor een sterk inhoudelijk programma, dat door de verschillende technische commissies wordt gepresenteerd. In bijgaande brochure vindt u een overzicht van zowel het inhoudelijke, als het social program. We verwachten ruim 100 deelnemers uit heel Europa en dit is voor u een goede gelegenheid om dicht bij huis kennis met hun te kunnen maken. Het levert u bovendien ook nog 9 PE-punten op.
De locatie van het congres is het conferentiecentrum van het Hyatt Regency hotel te Amsterdam, dat exclusief voor ons beschikbaar is.
Een beknopt overzicht van het programma:
Woensdag 10 juni welkom receptie in het congres hotel, gevolgd door een welkomst diner in Capital C (de voormalige diamantbeurs van Amsterdam)
Donderdag 11 juni: key note speeches van onder andere João Negrão (Executive Director, EUIPO en Steven Rowan (Vice-President for the Patent Granting Process, EPO), alsmede twee plenaire sessies en twee parallelle workshops
Vrijdag 12 juni, twee parallelle workshops en een plenaire sessie. Vrijdagavond 12 juni vindt een afsluitend gala evenement plaats in Breakers Beach House (bij Grand Hotel Huis ter Duin in Noordwijk)
- Op alle dagen is er een social program voor partners en op zaterdag de 13e is er een excursie voor alle deelnemers.
